Mark of the Founder: A LitRPG Saga is a science fiction and fantasy book. It is the first installment in Beastborne Chronicles. The book is written by James T. Callum. He has written some really good novels where the subject title is by far his best. The other good novels from the author are Futures Grave and Exiled Lands. These novels are narrated quite well and you will prefer to have them in audio over their paperback editions.
The audio narration of the book is done by Eric Michael Summerer. The performance was wonderful and you will have no issues with it at all. The Founders were first marked and those were the ones who employed all those powers to build big kingdoms, vanquish the land and also enrich themselves. They wouldn’t at all suffer through another for the sake of joining their ranks.
Hal was lost in that world with stats, levels, and monsters while trying to survive in a kind of unforgiving land. Hal had to escape execution from the rulers. Courage and ingenuity wouldn’t at all be enough. He doesn’t understand anything with all the marked powers. He was supposed to be very easy prey for all of the bandits, goblins, monsters, and aberrations who plagued the realm. He would need to completely abandon his humanity which could be done by embracing the beast that was within him.
The pacing of the book was not good and there were some flaws in the plot and overall writing as well. The supporting characters seemed to be quite shallow and sometimes empty as well. The narration probably is the only good thing about this audiobook.
