J.R. Ward has a habit of knitting weird stories for the fans and this novel will give the listener something to shiver about too. It’s the world of vampires where everything happens differently as compared to the human world. In this world live Qhuinn and Blay who are trying to separate their ways from one another but they just cannot. Both are in different relationships with the Chosen female but they think they cannot continue with those relations which were established just for the increase in the family and that’s all. Qhuinn pretends to love the female with whom he is spending his life at present but he does not feel her presence touching his heart. In order to get rid of agony he fights against the Lessening Society but something has just not been right for him. Blay has also tried to move on like the vampire he once loved but he too is not going well in his emotional life. After sometime the two reunite in the story which fulfills the emptiness in them and they think that they can take on any danger as long as they are together.
Those who got crazy after Dark Lover and A Warm Heart in Winter should get ready to go mad after listening to this wild journey narrated by Jim Frangione. No one these days thinks like Ward, as he has presented the vampire world entirely in a different way. It is the bond of love which unites these two vampires in the oddest fashion but their relationship is unbreakable. Their presence fulfills the emptiness present in the other and brings life into the dark heart.
