A simple woman named Beatrix did not have much luck in her love life. She had tried a few times but she had not been able to find the right match for herself so she decided that it is good for her to stay close to her profession and try to forget about her love life. She was just not the type who could impress men. Her friend Prudence on the other hand was very close to Captain Christopher when the young soldier went to war. She decided to get rid of the relationship.
Christopher started writing letters to Prudence from the waterfront and she was not interested in answering him back. Beatrix felt sad for the man and instead of Prudence, she started replaying Christopher with the fake name of his lover. The two talked a lot through letters and they started sharing secrets with each other as well.
This brought them close and when Christopher returned from war with his cap full of honor, he realized that his girlfriend was not that much interested in him. Also, he started to develop a likeness for Beatrix in a strange way. Lisa Kleypas has produced a story that is out of this world because the love in it is stupendous.
Rosalyn Landor happens to be a very good narrator for love stories and this has been proved in this story. Marrying Winterborne and Devil in Spring is not closely associated with this book but one can tell about the preference of the author through the selection of the themes and characterization. The characters are fully developed all the time so no time is invested in their development.
