It does not mean that anyone who comes up with a stolen or lost thing is actually a thief. There is a chance that the person had found the thing somewhere and now he is actually trying to return it to its rightful owner. Ezekiel Blast is that sort of boy i.e who is lucky enough to find the lost things. Though he always returns the thing to its owner the people think that it was Ezekiel who stole it as well. So the boy is living a confused life as he wants to use this curse for some positive purpose.
It is not a superpower that is given to him but it can make a difference because it provides an edge that the others lack. Orson Scott Card i.e the author of the story has put a fourteen year old boy in a serious situation and all he wants is to prove that he is not guilty. Beth thinks that Ezekiel is doing the right thing because one has to try to do positive things all the time. There is a detective who needs the help of this boy with unique powers.
A little girl has been abducted and no trace linked to her is yet to be found. Ezekiel’s unique powers can track her and the one behind the crime as well which makes him a useful person for the first time in his life.
Speaker for the Dead and Ender’s Game can compete well with this story because it too is about a young boy who does not know about his full potential yet. Stefan Rudnicki has given all his energy to the main character through narration which has strengthened him even more.
