Live Free or Die

Live Free or Die is a science fiction and fantasy novel. It is the opening chapter in the Troy Rising novel series which is written by John Ringo. He is an American writer of military fiction and science fiction. He has given several bestsellers in New York Times. The range of his books includes the straightforward type of science fiction and a mixed bag of political and military thrillers. The Hot Gate is a prominent novel by the author. Another novel worthy of mentioning here is Von Neumann’s War.

The audio narration of this book is done by Mark Boyett. He is a phenomenal performer and gave a stunning performance in this audio novel.

When a group of aliens rattled a gate to some of the other major worlds existing in the solar system, then the entire world reacted in awe of it. There was fear and hope as well. The Glatun were the first group of aliens to come through. They were extremely peaceful traders and the entire world was happy as they breathed a sigh of relief.

With the arrival of Horvath, their ownership was announced through the dropping of rocks on three distinct cities and completely gutted them. Since that time, they have held back Terra as their very own fiefdom. There was absolutely no way for victory with their control all over the orbitals. The government of the planet earth came to terms with the status quo.

The major highlight of this novel is the performance of Mark Boyett which is par excellence. The story is solid as well with some excellently written characters. This series is a trilogy and you couldn’t ask for any better opening to it than what Live Free or Die has got to offer.
