Lightning
Dean Koontz stories have spooky scenes which will give a creepy feeling to the listener if he is listening to it for the first time. Those who are not familiar with The Whispering Room or a masterpiece like The Silent Corner will surely get a strange feeling that they would not be able to explain initially. It takes time to adjust to the scenarios which the author paints because they are strange and surely difficult to understand. Most of the time the sense of fear and terror occupies the mind so much that our mind starts drifting away from the story and for this, the author adds certain alerts in the thing.
A young girl named Laura Shane was born on a stormy night in this novel narrated by Christopher Lane. The girl might have died because of the lightning but she was saved by a stranger who appeared at the doorstep of her house right in time. She was saved and her life started well initially and then she started feeling that someone was actually keeping an eye on her.
Perhaps it was the guardian angel that saved her as a child and now he wants to protect her for eternity. Then as she grows up, she faces the same situation again and she is saved in the same manner by the same dark-looking man.
Laura for the first time feels that he was not the guardian angel because his presence didn’t give her the soothing feeling that she was expecting. Laura’s strange destiny was waiting for her and the man wanted to keep her alive till the fulfillment of that destiny.
