Stephen Leeds is a multi-talented man who has skills for almost everything. Some consider him a genius and then some think that with more knowledge he has become mad. The reality is a secret, Stephen has the potential to create men like him through his mind and then those men learn different skills after which they start working for Stephen.
These hallucinatory men which Stephen creates are of great use to him but they are also making his mind all choked up. At many occasions, his mind has crashed and things get jumbled up in his brain for a long time. Of course this cannot go on forever but the man at present has no solution to this intense problem and surely he is moving towards a kind of mental illness. But again he cannot say no to a job when it is offering a huge reward in exchange.
A company offers him a job which is connected to the finding of a strange camera with strange powers. With Stephen’s skills, the company thinks that only he would be able to find this missing artifact. As he goes deep he finds rival gangs and terrorists which also want to get possession of the same thing.
Brandon Sanderson puts the hero in two troubles at the same time, one is personal and the other one is professional. Completely different from Words of Radiance and The Well of Ascension in story and also in the mission at the climax but still awesome. Oliver Wyman is not a new voice but at different spots he struggled in the narration which was handled well later on.
