Jim Powell was in the middle of nowhere when the attack on the United States took everything from the nation. The land is without power and a proper supply of food and fuel. People especially those who were traveling are stuck on the road now because they have no means to reach their home. Jim Powell became worried about his family and his never quitting attitude had brought him home finally. He is with his family but the condition of the country has worsened now.
There is no way things can get to normal within days and still the government had not managed to catch the evil doers. Jim was dreaming to get back with his family when he was hundreds of miles away and when he reached the place he was rocked by the situation i.e his family and home were under attack.
Thus the home is not a safe place anymore which means the family has to find a better and much secure place. As compared to Alice, Jim had a better homecoming because Alice finds herself tied to a pole and the girl with her has turned into a dead body now. Franklin Horton’s The Path of Water and Punching Tickets will make a superb combination with this book. Kevin Pierce’s narration is an extra spice for the listeners.
The book has some happy moments along with the tragedies that have become a constant part of this series. One thing has become certain i.e hiding will not solve anything in this battle which is growing bigger and bigger on the horizon. Tough time is coming to the heroes and they have to get themselves loaded with weapons quickly.
