First Law Trilogy started with a lot of concepts involved and one by one the author Joe Abercrombie explained those concepts in these parts. This is the third and final book of the trilogy thus it serves as the solution to all the confusions if they have risen in the mind of the listener. Bloody-Nine is coming back for one last fight against the man whom he loved once and now he hates him more than anyone else.
The king of the Northmen is hell-bent on getting control over the land and Bloody-Nine can stop him if he reaches the place on time. Glokta is another character who likes fighting but he does not fight with his sword anymore rather he has developed other talents like blackmailing and deadly threats. Such talents now help Glokta to change the course of war without using his sword and physical strength.
Lastly Steven Pacey narrates the character of Jezal who too is just fed up with war and has decided to leave everything related to bloodshed far behind. A woman has brought this change in Jezal’s life and he is willing to keep things in the same pattern. All the elements of the books like The Blade Itself and Before They Are Hanged can be seen in this one single story.
There is love, friendship, hate, and deceit in plenty. The author has not tried to add too much of the new stuff in this last part because he was concentrating on finishing what he started in the first two parts. It is nicely done by Joe, the only issue was that the story looked a little dull at times in one or two chapters.
