King’s Guard

King’s Guard is a science fiction and fantasy novel. It is the second installment in The Shattering of Kingdoms novel series which is authored by Emmet Moss. The author writes sword & sorcery, epic fantasy novels. The best from the author can be found in The Mercenary Code. Another good example of Emmet’s work is The Stones of Aer.

The presence of Simon Vance as the narrator of this book was loved by the listeners. He performed once again at his usual best and the listeners loved every bit of it.

The Mercenary Code was finally broken. There could be the rise seen in the new Protectorate Empire.

The Protectorate in the league of the renegade mages or the Fallen wouldn’t stop at anything when it comes to the expansion of its reach. They would also go on to unify the different sections of the Old Caledun by any possible or necessary means. The few who managed to escape the coup came into a tenuous struggle that was against the growing influence associated with that corrupt new Order.

The different Mercenary companies which were known to be loyal in every way to the old ways raced to defend the last available bastions of the freedom which was known to be in the South. One city within the highly proficient hands of its commander prepared for the ultimate battle. That would decide the future of Kal Maran. New allies were coming in as well who joined the cause. But, will it be possible for them to turn the tide as well?

King’s Guard is a beautifully written and well-performed audiobook. This will make you anxiously wait for the next chapter in the series.
