The Syrian biotech expert and then a person in Afghanistan get the same brutal treatment. Only one man can stop the criminal and he is after these tracks.
No matter whether there is a clue or not, the criminal will come into the hands of the Pilgrim. The Year of the Locust and I Am Pilgrim, Volume 1 has devastating situations for your taste as well. The author keeps you busy all the time and there is no stopping at any level. The criminal wins in most of the chapters and it is at the climax that the hero takes over.
