Hidden is a romantic suspense fiction novel. It is the opening title in the A Bone Secrets Novel series. The book is authored by Kendra Elliot. She is the #1 bestselling author on Amazon and more than 10 million copies of her books have been sold worldwide. She has been on the bestseller list in Wall Street Journal more than 10 times. A Merciful Death and In the Pines are two of the most loved books of the author.
The audio narration of the Hidden novel is done by Kate Rudd. She had a brash, flat voice, where not much differentiation for the characters was there. She also mispronounced a few names and words. The Co-ed Slayer some 11 years ago murdered nine female students. It all happened on the campus of Oregon State University. In that vicious attack, Lacey Campbell hardly managed to escape. But in the process, she lost her closest friend, whose remains were not found at the crime scene. As the only surviving victim of the attack, Lacey helped to send that sadistic killer for life to prison.
Lacey then became a forensic odontologist who was supposed to examine the bones and teeth for the state Medical Examiner. She was quite devastated when she reached a crime scene and identified the remains of a victim to be of her college friend. Those remains were found in the vicinity of Jack Harper, who was an ex-cop. Sparks began to fly between him and Lacey, even as they realized that the witnesses of the prosecution from that 11-year-ago case were not getting murdered one by one. All the evidence pointed to the Co-ed Slayer. But the only issue was that he was long dead. So, who was the new killer on the scene?
The storyline is great and the best thing about this audiobook is. The listeners might find themselves struggling with the flat narration of the author.
