Darkness can play tricky roles for different individuals. For some, it is a way to escape and hide their true self while for others it is a scary thing which can make their worst nightmares real within no time. Laura Kaye describes the main portion of the novel in a dark elevator as the two main characters get stuck in an elevator and they have all the time in the world to know each other.
The problem is that they cannot see each other’s faces because of the darkness. Makenna James was not having a good day at all and getting stuck in an elevator with a complete stranger was even worse. She only saw the dragon tattoo on his hand when the elevator’s door closed and they got stuck in darkness.
Caden Grayson didn’t see the face of the girl because she was with so much luggage and was talking on the phone when she entered the elevator. Caden was afraid of a few things and getting stuck in the elevator was one of them. Now he thinks that he needs support and he is amused to find out that the girl with him also needed such kind of company. Narrator Erin Jones’ lovely voice brings to us this romantic time that these two strangers spend in the elevator.
They find out that they have so much in common and they start thinking would their feelings be the same when they will finally see each other’s faces. Series with the books Hard As It Gets and also other classics like Hard to Let Go is romantic too but this is just out of this world because the feelings which are conveyed in the darkness are just stupendous.
