With the introduction of Jake Sullivan starts the Grimnoir chronicles. Jake is not an ordinary man rather he has the power to change the weight of any physical phenomena with just a single look. In his mind he makes the thing appear as a feather and in the real world that thing loses its weight at the same time. The power is not an ordinary one so because of this he is often called for help by the G-men. This time Jake is called to hunt down a thief who is using magic during the robberies.
First he was amazed to hear about the skills of the thief and after investigation he realizes that the thief is none other than a girl who has equal powers as Jake. That girl was once Jake’s friend but now their paths have been separated forever.
Case of simple robberies start to get big for Jake as he comes to know about a secret cult with magical powers working against the outside world. That group of magicians doesn’t want Jake to disturb their mission so their first mission is to get rid of him. Whole cartel gets on the tail of the hero and he has to take help of the old friend after all.
Larry Correia in Bronson Pinchot’s smooth voice starts this first part nicely. Destroyer of Worlds and Son of the Black Sword also had same kind of flow in them thus Larry keeps the stories flowing so that the listener never gets exhausted. There is no repetition of scene ever in the novels which is the trademark style of Larry.
