House Targaryen is the only family which has survived after the doom and now they are looking to rebuild. The first thing they need is a place to settle after which they will start the rebuilding process.
Aegon establishes the base of the Iron Throne for the first time in this story and it was something that was the main cause of war in the game of thrones series. Valyria was not in its true shape after the Doom and starting everything all over again is surely different. The book gives certain answers which were raised in our minds during A Game of Thrones and A Clash of Kings.
The rule of the dragons is described here and also we come to know about the Cruel’s crimes which he committed in his era. So we can say that the author has provided a base for whatever he has presented in the past. This is the background of the game of thrones which Simon Vance narrates at this time. The book is perfect like always and there are more than one things that are discussed in this novel at the same time by the author.
