Vampires used to hide in the dark and the light was the only weapon that the human race had against the vampires since the beginning. Though the vampires happen to be the lords of the night with the dawn of the day their powers were weakened because of which they were never able to dominate the human race. In this novel written by Jay Kristoff, there is an entirely different thing going on in the human world.
The sun has stopped rising for decades which has made the creatures of the dark so powerful that they have overthrown human rule from the face of the earth. The humans are quite hard to find because they have perished against the evil forces. Far away there is an order of saints that are still trying to overthrow this new devilish rule but that group is also failing because the light is not returning to the world at any rate.
Gabriel also gets caught as the Silver Order falls permanently and in prison, he starts narrating different tales of the past. The light is not coming back and the last hope left for humanity is the Holy Grail that can change the course of the battle once again. Damian Lynch’s voice will keep you awake because the narrator has narrated the feelings in the novel quite awesomely.
Nevernight and Godsgrave are also priceless books because of the amount of sensation associated with them. These books tell us not about the feelings of the humans but the feelings of the monsters as well. The way the vampires can think is clearly mentioned in the novel till the end.
