Edge of Eternity Audiobook
This is the end of the trilogy which Ken Follett has handled with extreme care because it is linked with history. Anything which has a connection with history is tough to write because the author cannot manipulate a lot of things. In this series, the author has talked about five different families and their journey through the centuries. This time it is the era of the 1960s to 1980s which means that we would be observing several political changes and big crises too like the Cuban Missile Crisis.
At first, Rebecca who happens to be a teacher from Germany takes a big step forward when she notices that someone close to her has been spying on her for a very long time. She knows that her decision can affect the life of her family too but she is not able to constrain herself.
George Jakes is the second character who gets a complete introduction from the narrator John Lee. George belongs to a mixed race couple and he never thought that this would become a problem for him in his professional life. The boy joins the Justice Department when the civil right battle starts and makes a mess of everything very quickly.
Then there are a few characters in the novel who are looking for some political gains and they don’t care about any other man on the planet. Winter of the World would have been another title for this book but the author had already given that title to one of his superb books. Another stupendous name that the listeners would like to add to their bookshelf is A Column of Fire. These books bring the reality of the past to life and make us think that whether the world is going in the right direction or not.
