Claire was a nurse in the World War before she became a time traveler and came back to the world where Scottish warriors still exist. On her return she fell in love with James Fraser who was fighting an endless battle. The two fell in love and just left every other thing that was important to them in the past. Together the two also started a campaign for the freedom of the land. James Fraser was amazed to find such a lovely wife who got so much interested in his mission just after the first meeting. Diana Gabaldon still showed in the previous part even that Claire was somehow worried about the fate of her husband. She has doubt of his survival after the end of the war.

There are conspiracies going on which could result in the death of James Fraser and Claire is on a mission to change the history for the sake of her newly found love. Claire has spent twenty years now in her mission to save her love and she returns to Scotland once again for the same cause but this time she has her daughter with her. She tells her daughter the reality which she has been keeping in her heart for two decades. Davina Porter narrates the talk between the mother and daughter with quite expertise. The daughter thought there was something strange with her mother but she never expected her to be a time traveler. Theme of Outlander and Voyager move on only to become more complicated in the process. Series is on the verge of an end but the author has prepared the whole scenario for a big bang.
