Juliet Marillier so far is going very nicely with the series, the author has not created any kind of separation between the two lovers who are still going by the codes in their life. Both of them want some kind of vengeance in their life but it is their promise which they have to keep. Blackthorn and Grim have devoted their lives to helping other people and this has been their sole purpose for many years. The couple has buried the past far behind and they just don’t try to look into it again.
This time the two are called to the court and they are given separate tasks to fulfill. Blackthorn is asked to take care of the princess and Grim is sent to Wolf Glen to rebuild what is destroyed in the attack by the enemy. As the two investigate deeper they come to know that evil schemes are linked to the case and old enemies are finally returning to the surface.
The couple can just complete their task and go back on the same old track or they can finally stand for what they think is the right thing. Natalie Gold, Scott Aiello, and Nick Sullivan narrate a teasing tale of suspense and horror which can separate Grim and Blackthorn once again. Tower of Thorns and Daughter of the Forest kind of sting is present in the story and if you are an old fan then it would be irresistible for you. Not a lot of things from the past come to life but the contact with the past is well established in a strong way.
