For the undead creatures, Jane Yellowrock’s name is like a threat that they must take seriously because she is coming for all of them with an axe in hand. She does not fear the undead rather they are the ones who fear her presence because she possesses the power and zeal to kill them, no matter how powerful they actually are.
Initially, Jane never expected that she will one day end up working for a master vampire named Leo. The master vampire of New Orleans is actually in favor of peace between the two domains and he doesn’t favor the sucking of human blood. So Leo and Jane have the same idea about an ideal world for humans and vampires.
Now all Jane has to do is keep Leo in power because he is serving the same cause. Skinwalker and Final Heir were working on the same line and a big war that was expected in those two parts started here. Leo’s rivals want to eradicate his rule so that they can start the war against the humans once again. Leo knows that his enemies are greater in power but he has Jane on his side which means that he has a chance.
A plague starts in the area and this is not good news for the vampires, somehow Jane thinks that it is part of a big plan made by her enemies. Faith Hunter has invested a lot of pages in the description of the vampire plague in the story. The official narrator Khristine Hvam knew the main objective of this story in advance thus the narration is dealt with accordingly.
