The story opens up in the past when prophecy is told about the witch that will become the queen of the Dark Kingdom one day. Now when the story opens in the present, seven hundred years have passed and everyone is ready for prophecy to become true. A Black Widow witch told the people about the birth of a witch seven hundred years ago and now the girl has been born. The girl is said to have more powers than the devil but there is a problem i.e she is just a little girl and can be influenced by the forces present around her.
Many want to bring her to their side so that when she becomes the queen, they would get the rewards as well. If the young girl joins the corrupt side of the world then the future of the kingdom will also get dark. Thus the battle starts and the three enemies want to take the queen in their control.
These three men know what the girl is truly capable of and they want to control her before things go out of hand and the young girl starts dominating the world on her own. Anne Bishop has created a wonderful character here in the form of the little girl who is innocent in appearance but from the inside, she is something else.
John Sharian makes every character appear alive with a lively voice that he has given to the novel. Written in Red and Murder of Crows had not much for the kids but the young girl in the novel who is going to turn into a queen very soon is quite appealing to the young minds.
