Clariel is one of the finest characters one will find because the girl can take part in the action and she happens to be very good at romance too. Life didn’t give Clariel a chance to spend more time on her love life. She has been practicing hard and has developed good fighting skills which she wants to usefully. She has a direct relation with the Abhorsen and to the king but none of that matters because her parents have decided to get her married quite soon and that too with a corrupt man.
Garth Nix writes in an emotional way how the girl wants something more in her life. Then a magical creature appears on the land and it makes the life of the people terrible. Instead of marrying according to the will of her parents, Clariel goes after the magical creature and quickly learns that the life of the king is also under a serious threat. The girl does not hesitate to put the step in this war which was never hers to fight.
A little while later ancient magic starts evolving out of Clariel’s hands and she realizes that it was her fate to capture or kill the magical creature. Graeme Malcolm the narrator for this book, molds his voice very well according to the male and female characters present in this big drama.
Sabriel and Lirael will not disappoint the listeners either. The girls rising in these stories have hidden powers of which they are not aware at the beginning of the novel. When their true powers are brought to light, their fate also becomes quite clear for them.
