There is only one problem with the man i.e he is not committed to anyone rather he thinks that in the material world, true love does not exist. Then he sets his eyes on Lady Cassandra Ravenel who is one of a kind lady.
Cassandra knows that Tom has everything which she wishes for except the most important one which is love. Cassandra has promised herself that she will not marry a person who does not love her and she is going to keep that promise.
Just when Tom thinks that he will not win the game this time, Cassandra gets into real trouble in which Tom becomes her savior and wins her hand in the process. Tom thinks that he has won again but that does not prove true because his wife has proved to be equally stubborn. With Marrying Winterborne and Devil in Spring under her belt, the author had written this book pretty confidently and the narrator Mary Jane Wells also narrated it with superb confidence in her voice.
