Calamity changed the entire world within no time, although it lit up the sky it is considered to be the darkest period of human history. A few of the humans turned into Epic i.e beings with unimaginable power. That power corrupted that Epic and they started their ultimate rule over the world. Those who tried to stand against them were squeezed with extreme prejudice. The rebels started operating from behind the shadows so that they don’t get caught.
David was not a rebel initially but the Epics took everything away from him including his love which ignited hatred in his heart. It was Steelheart that killed David’s father and made him work for the rebels because he wanted revenge. David knew one thing about the Epic that no one knew. The man saw the strongest of the Epics bleeding which means that they have a weak point and they can be killed if the attack is right on target. [Calamity Audiobook]

Brandon Sanderson’s works are usually narrated by MacLeod Andrews and the narrator understands Sanderson’s concept very well. The Well of Ascension and The Lost Metal are fine examples of that understanding. The stories and their plots are truly captivating. These are not the type of tales that will create haste in the mind rather the listener starts enjoying everything happening in the story.
