After the issues or calamities which changed the course of the earth, not everyone is allowed to breed. Only the chosen ones can reproduce while the others can just live and die at the will of the government. Those who are selected have to prove their worth by fulfilling certain tasks that are not easy at all. Four teens started their journey in the first part of the series and now they are only three in number because one member has perished in the first test.

This first test that Nova, Kian, Wren, and Dex faced was supposed to be the toughest one of all but it was incorrect. The first test was just the beginning and there is more to follow. There is a threat that none of the teenagers will make to the end this time because they appear to be tried.

The trials were supposed to be the only trouble for these young kids but there are dangers from the outside world which are also coming to this utopia. The outside world wants to get hold of Askala because it possesses all the resources that are needed for survival. The remaining three teens also fear that even if they get through the trials there is no guarantee that their utopia survives the foreign attacks or not.

Heidi Catherine and Tamar Sloan invested a lot in Reckoning: After the Thaw because they wanted the audience to form a picture of everything in their mind. After this book, the two authors have Rising in stock which is once again narrated by Christian Drerup. It is a battle for survival and only the brave can win the fight.
