Dagger Ixur betrayed his family and broke the laws of the state, for this reason, he is now running from the men who are after him. The bounty is finally taken on his head and whoever will kill him first will get the prize money. During his effort to save his life he has tried to hide but no one is ready to provide him the shelter of any sort. While on the run he gets into more trouble when his path collides with a boy who also had problems of his own.
The boy was from the linage that was exterminated by Dagger’s grandmother and now the boy was also on the run because the orders are clear i.e get rid of him. Dagger saves the boy and he gets injured severely. The mother of the boy recognizes Dagger as one of the enemies and decides to leave him there initially then she thinks that she is in debt as the man has saved her son.
Saving Dagger means that Ushara had to go against her linage but this is one risk that she is forced to take. The wounded man can help her in so many ways but the problem is that he is known for his betrayal throughout the land. Sherrilyn Kenyon wrote Shadow Fallen and The Dream-Hunter in thrilling style and after a long time, the author has used that thrilling style in this book.
Fred Berman has not narrated Sherrilyn’s works a lot but the narration was handled without any pause or hindrance. The story begins with a narrow escape in which Dagger and the little boy are saved and then the mission is launched.
