Memoirs are quite challenging to write because most of the time the things that we cheer about so much in our life, look quite tame when it is written down. People cannot feel the same kind of sensation through their memories if we fail to describe them in the most appropriate way.
Qian Julie Wang also had this challenge on her hands because she too is not a professional author. She was writing this stuff for the first time and it is her clarity in writing and narration that made everything so simple and magnetic for all of us. Her parents were professors in China and they were living a well-respected life in their country.
When Qian was seven years of age, the family decided to migrate to New York for a better future. Suddenly the girl found herself in a new world and here the family was illegal. So the teachers and students at school were also not welcoming to Qian as she was unable to communicate in perfect English. Instead of becoming sad about the issue, Qian started visiting the library too often and from there she learned how to speak correct English.
The situation became a little better at school but in the house, her parents were constantly fighting because of financial issues. Her mother also died later on because of a horrible disease that she was hiding from everyone. Qian didn’t lose heart and she tells us how she used to see the festivity of Christmas in order to feel the positivity in this new land. The Path Made Clear could be taken as a good example of such a book. Though this book is not written by the same author but such books are worth to listen.
