Bad Blood is a true crime memoir by John Carreyrou. He is an American-French author and journalist who worked for a couple of decades for The Wall Street Journal. Will Damron did the narration of the Bad Blood title and it went quite well throughout. Bad Blood will provide listeners with a detailed account and the inside story of the incredible rise and then the shocking collapse of the Theranos. It was a multibillion-dollar biotech startup company at one time. It was founded by Elizabeth Holmes.
It was the year 2014 when Elizabeth Homes, a brilliant Stanford University dropout soon had her start up. The startup was about to offer a revolutionary technology that would completely change the medical industry. They were coming up with machines that would make blood testing procedures very simplified and quicker. This project was backed by multiple wealthy investors. Theranos in a fund-raising event sold out its shares and that was the time when it came to light that it was a $9 billion company. Elizabeth Holme’s worth went to a staggering $4.7 billion at that time. But, there was one major problem – That technology never worked.
Bad Blood is now the subject of a very exciting and intriguing documentary on HBO. It is there with the title of The Inventor. John Carreyrou did a superb job with their writing, he is also a prize-winning journalist and the one who broke the story of the Theranos for the very first time and then pursued it till the end. It was a bestseller book in New York Times.
The Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, The New York Time Book Review, and Time named it one of the best books of the year. It was the Book of the year by McKinsey Business.
