Ash Princess is a teen& young adult fantasy. This is the first chapter in the Ash Princess Trilogy. The book is written by Laura Sebastian. She is an author and playwright from the USA. Among her books, you will have a very good time with Stardust in Their Veins. Moreover, the audio version of Castles in Their Bones also promises to give an awesome experience.
The audio narration of the Ash Princess novel is done by Saskia Maarleveld. The narration was fine by Saskia but there was weird background music played now and then which was highly distracting. Theodosia was only six years old when her country was invaded. In the process, the Fire Queen, her mother was killed right before her eyes. The Kaiser on that day took over the family of Theodosia, as well as her land and name. Theo was then crowned as the Ash princess. It was a title of shame to have in her new life in the capacity of a prisoner.
For a decade, Theo has been in captivity in her place. She had endured extreme abuse. She was completely powerless and was surviving within her new world just by burying the girl that she was deep inside.
The Kaider forces then one night forced her to do the unthinkable. She was in a desperate state and merely surviving was not enough, anymore. But her mind was her weapon which was believed to be much sharper than the sword. Then the first half of the book is quite slow and then it picked up the pace and ended well. The background music was not liked by the listeners. Overall, Ash Princess will make just a fine audiobook experience.
