James Islington started the tale with the introduction of the Augurs and their downfall after they lost their powers. The land got under the rule of the rival force and the Augurs were nowhere to be seen after that. Then Davian started feeling the powers in him that were long lost by the Augurs. This started a new campaign in the world and all the forces turned against Davian quickly.
The young Augur ran towards the hills to find help in the form of allies. Slowly he found Augurs that were hiding from the rulers of the land. With Davian the Augurs received new hope and they started uniting. Allies which the young Davian made show their back on him in this part because of certain reasons.
James Islington brings this second part full of action as through this the author was planning to pave way for the last part. Ally present in the Capital destroys the game in a big way when a secret gets leaked through him. There are other characters such as Asha who have their own missions in mind thus they drift from the main path.
Michael Kramer also narrates Caeden who is busy fulfilling his own bargains from the past. Without The Light of All That Falls and The Shadow of What Was Lost this book is actually nothing. The other two books along with this one forms the whole story, listening to only one will leave the fans in confusion and nothing else. Future does not get decided in this part but there are hints which can tell that how the matters will get resolved in the future.
