American Kingpin is a memoir by Nick Bilton. He is a reporter and a writer of nonfiction books. Do try out his I Live in the Future & Here’s How It Works title and you will enjoy it. After that, Hatching Twitter is another good read which Nick Bilton wrote beautifully.
The audio narration of the American Kingpin memoir is done by Will Damron. He proved to be a perfect choice for narrating this book and you will enjoy his gripping voice in this audio title.
It was in 2011 when Ross Ulbricht, a 26 years old libertarian programmer launched the Silk Road, the ultimate free market. It was a clandestine website that was hosted on the Dark Web. That was an online place that can be used by anyone for trading. The products there included drugs, forged passports, hacking software programs, poisons, and counterfeit cash. All of these were free of the watchful eye of the government.
It didn’t take long before the media took notice of that new website where anyone could sell and buy contraband completely detection-free. The federal government was spurred by the public outcry and they launched an epic manhunt for the elite proprietor of that website. But they didn’t have any witnesses, any lead, or any clear jurisdiction. They only knew one thing whoever was running that site used to call himself: the Dread Pirate Roberts…
Nick Bilton did a tremendous job in combining his great talent in the capacity of a reporter with his genuine ability as a gifted storyteller. This book will be a nice, light read with a good touch of drama in it as well.
