R.C. Bray has narrated the third and fourth parts in a combined form and both parts had the same excellent quality of the narration. Third book starts with the news that the civilization has crumbled because of the disease which killed most of the people. The rest who survived the plague got killed by the “Others” who have come to take over the world. Dan and a small group of people are trying to fight back but it is not easy.
Till now they are showing some resistance against the foreign race but it cannot go on like that forever. Devon C. Ford shows that the human race has become completely hopeless because of their current condition. Even the brave and daring acts of Dan have not been able to infuse energy in the survivors. Such hopelessness was not seen in After It Happened and Andorra: The Leah Chronicles.
Because of the hopelessness was seen in the third part the author has used the word hope for the fourth part. Dan was looking tired and tense in the third part but in the fourth part suddenly he is charged up when he hears that there is a chance. The elementals are hard to kill because they have powers that cannot be controlled by humans but Dan comes to know that all of it can be changed because of which the future might be completely different for the humans.
Now in a desperate effort to change the future, Dan gathers as many allies as he can and if he succeeds then all the troubles would be over forever. It is good to see that the hero is not alone but the mission which he has selected is suicidal.
