A Place Called Freedom Audiobook
Love and freedom are the core themes that Simon Prebble narrates in this fantastic tale written by none other than Ken Follett. Ken has excited all the fans through A Column of Fire and World Without End so this is again written for a mature audience that can understand such emotions.
A young child or a teenager can understand love but struggling for liberty and running toward freedom are not easy pills to swallow for the youth. The story of the novel takes place in England and America and the era is 1766. Those who have some information about the era might enjoy it even more because their mind can tell them about the authenticity of the situation.
Mack who is the male character in the novel is a slave and is Scottish by origin. He wants to run away from slavery because spending his entire life in a coal mine is not something that he has in mind. Lizzie is also in the same part of the world and she wants an escape from her married life. Her husband treats her like a slave and her life is not very different from Mack. The two join hands not for love initially rather they think that they would be able to reach their destination if they work together.
Reaching America can provide them a chance to live free according to their dreams but traveling this much is not easy when you have enemies on your back. Also, the two encounter deadly criminals on the way as well so they select the tough way to get freedom but they didn’t cancel their plan. During this journey the two fall in love as well.
