It was in Cairo in 1912 where Fatma was the youngest woman ever to work for the Ministry of Alchemy. She was not a novice or a rookie, especially after she managed to prevent the destruction of the entire universe. All that happened last summer.
When someone killed a secret brotherhood dedicated to one of the most popular men in history, al-Jahiz, Fatma was summoned for the subject case. Al-Jahiz was the one who completely transformed the world some four decades ago. He did that by enabling the veil amid the mundane and magical realms before he vanished right into the unknown. This killer claimed to be al-Jahiz who returned once again to condemn the modern age for all of its different types of social oppression.
A Master of Djinn was the best NYPL book in 2021. The author made a great return to his popular and amazing alternate universe in Cairo. It is his fantasy novel debut which was well-received both by his followers and critics. Kudos to Suehyla for such a magical performance which further added to the quality of this novel in audio.
