One murder starts the story and it is a big one because a famous actress has been killed during sex and the culprit is a movie director. Harry Bosch was not called rather he was there and he witnessed the thing too well which is the statement that he provides to the department.
He wasn’t unable to save the girl but he was sure that the director was behind the entire thing and he has caught the right man. In another place, Terry McCaleb is apparently leading a very good life and he thinks that retirement has given him the opportunity to roam here and there freely. Then an old co-worker meets Terry and tells him that help is needed in a certain case that only he can solve because he has the skills that are needed for the job.
When Terry started going through the thing, he suddenly felt that the killer was actually a monster as he had been involved in a number of murders before. Michael Connelly makes the two cases collide in the middle of the story as Harry Bosch and Terry are left with no other option except to work together.
Desert Star and Echo Park: Harry Bosch Series, Book 12 were the missions which Harry Bosch solved single handed and here he gets the help of another friend in the form of Terry. A narration without a pause is the trademark of Richard Davidson and he has proved an exact thing here. There would be no issue regarding the slip of dialogue from the narrator because Richard does not allow anything to slip away.
