R.C. Bray has narrated a lot of super hit books in his career and this book is one of them. The second book of the trilogy again brings a sad picture of the human race that lost the war against the machines which they once created. The machines made the human authorities crumble in just a single day since then the humans are only trying to survive and nothing else.
Nicholas Sansbury Smith gained fame in the world of fantasy during Hell Divers II: Ghosts and Hell Divers IX: Radioactive so the author does not need any kind of introduction. Some of the humans left the earth during the fight against the machines. They hid on the dark side of the moon and they have not thought of returning back since then. They know that the Shadow Squad that is fighting on the earth need their help but they have preferred hiding because they cannot risk their lives.
If these humans get killed in the war then there is a threat that the human race might get extinct for sure. Sergeant Walsh has strict orders about the protection of the colony, though he wants to go back and fight he is not allowed to do that. Meanwhile, on earth, it is Akira who is taking care of the matters and controlling the Shadow Squad perfectly well.
Soon the time for the last battle will come and the humans will fight their last battle against the force which they created with their own hands. If they are bound to perish then they want to perish in a heroic way because hiding is not the way to honor.
