Test of the Twins

Fate cannot be changed, at any rate, was the concept that was followed by the Greek gods as well. Raistlin also believed in the same thing, however after seeing the fate of his predecessors, he just changed his mind. He planned to change his fate because he didn’t want to go down in the same way as his predecessors. Thus after much struggle, he became successful in opening the Portal to the Abyss and went into it. The plan was simple i.e get linked to the Queen of Darkness and get a seat among the gods present there. The plan was successful and Raistlin got what he desired from his life.

However, this deed of Raistlin changed the entire future in which Caramon and Tasslehoff landed later on. The future was not the same anymore and was so drastic that it became unbearable for Caramon. At first, he thought that helping his brother was a noble thing for him but after seeing the future, he changes his mind.

Thus Caramon decides to reverse the entire process and for this, he has to enter the Abyss as well and the first thing he has to do is to defeat his brother. Tracy Hickman and Margaret Weis i.e the co-creators of this novel have used a quite electric style in writing. They didn’t try that hard in Dragons of Summer Flame and Dragons of Winter Night but this one was a special case.

The story changes in this episode and there is a chance that the future might get back to normal if Caramon succeeds. Ax Norman has tried to give Raistlin and Caramon the same style through narration so that they can appear as equal competitors in the game.
