Reve was an ordinary girl in her childhood who used to live with her grandmother. According to Reve, the life she had with her grandmother was very interesting because her grandmother used to tell her stories of the past. For some years the stories looked to be unreal and then the magic which Reve’s grandmother used to talk about started running in her veins. Years passed and the magic grew stronger soon Reve and her husband became the top illusionists of the town.
The couple got blessed with three lovely daughters and their house was perfect for the whole family. One day a tragedy took place and someone with the help of magical powers made Reve kill her husband during the show. The woman knew that the powers that made her kill her husband would bring danger for her little daughters too so she runs back to her native home.
There in her home, she finds the book of the dead and finally finds out what the creature was looking for. Chrysler Szarlan doesn’t load too many things in the story but what is introduced at the start is ample to maintain the interest. Cassandra Campbell narrates the main woman in the novel with a thick voice to show her motherly touch.
It is all about Reve the rest of the characters like the sheriff and the people of the town are in supporting roles. The supporting characters come and go in slow motion after playing their role in the big drama. Evil forces get unveiled completely after the first half till then it remains a mystery for everyone.
