Heartstriker Mountain is one of those places where dragons still exist and their rule has been governed by the ruling council for centuries. No one has ever dared to attack them because the dragons have remained close to one another and there has been no issue in the ruling council. When Julius’ mother took control of the council there was a rise in tension in the clan. Then slowly those tensions mounted up and Julius was left with no other option but to overthrow his mother.
When this young dragon got into power he too showed the same hunger for power. He didn’t want to add more people to the council especially people from his own family who could be a threat to his rule. There are more and more people in quick succession that want to get rid of the new ruler and Julius understands the greed for power in a better way.
Algonquin’s war is just right on the next corner and there is not much Julius can do as a ruler except to wait and see how the circumstances go from here. Unifying the dragons of the land is not easy for him because on Heartstriker Mountain everyone has his agendas to fulfill. Rachel Aaron has depicted the story of a dragon world that is crumbling because of its doings.
Dragons were going down in Minimum Wage Magic and Night Shift Dragons but here the entire kingdom is collapsing. Julius himself is a part of all the unrest and if the chaos remains then it would be the end of everything. Vikas Adams starts the narration in a fully charged manner from the first line because the story is truly electrifying.
