Nobody has seen God in real life and different people have created different pictures of God in their mind to keep a firm belief in its existence. Some think of God as a giver and a fatherly figure while others have firm trust in the thing that he alone can control everything. The most authentic thing is that he can make the dead rise from their graves. Now if a child sees all these powers converging in one man then he would probably confuse him with God.
Carolyn was living a normal life in the foster home and she was sure that she was human, after all, she dressed like them and ate the usual items present on the menu. Then one day a strange man adopted her and some other children from the foster house. The man asked the children to call him Father as that was his name or the word which he liked to be called. Father started teaching the children strange things written in the books of his library.
The knowledge present in the books had a lot of power which was difficult to control for the newcomers. Also, Father was quite strict and he wanted every kid to follow his instructions. At this spot, most of the children started to think of him as a god especially after they saw him bringing the dead to life. One day the Father just disappeared from the scene without a trace. The children instead of looking for him started trying to take over the library which was housing powerful books.
Carolyn was sure that she could govern the library better than anyone else so she prepared herself from the rivals. Scott Hawkins has added more magic in the story after the start of the competition. Narrating magical words was difficult for Hillary Huber but the rest of the dialogues are uttered with ease.
