Ilona Andrews’ creations are not easy to handle especially for the narrators because the characters in the novels are always strong. Depicting strong characters needs a lot of strength in the voice like that of Renee Raudman. Renee is the kind of narrators who don’t consume a lot of their energy but still manages to give a heavy voice to the story.
Nevada Baylor in this first part of the series gets a tough mission to deal with. She wasn’t expecting supernatural beings in the case but the case is actually linked to the world of magic. Her detective career would have been ended at the start of the investigation if she had not been kidnapped by Connor Rogan. Rogan has magical powers of his own and he was in search of the same thing of which Nevada was investigating.
That’s why he abducted the hot detective so that she might be able to provide some help in the issue. For Nevada, it was the easiest way to stay alive in this situation also right after the first glance on Rogan she develops an attraction for him. Rogan also learns the passion of love through the girl who enters his life because of an accident.
They joined hands for the mission only and then they realized that it was their fate which joined their destiny. Passion of love and lust decorated Blood Heir, Magic Bites and this book as well. The author along with action has always tried to bring the flavor of love which at certain spots tease the characters. Action is sidelined when the love and appeal starts to dominate the tales by Ilona.
