Kate and Curran are finally together and they want to look after their mate because of which they have left their pack forever. Living a life without threats and action was their dream when they found in each other a perfect mate. Having nothing to do with the pack they got settled and then they felt that something was missing in their life. They knew only one way of earning their livelihood i.e through action and bloodshed.
The pack offers them a job for which both of them were quite eager but it was nothing related to the new stuff. The pack wanted the couple to finish some old jobs. Also the missions which they accepted were quite strange something that was not in their routine previously. After some time they noticed that there was a pattern between these strange missions and slowly they were being led to something terrible.
An old evil has emerged on the land and only these two can deal with it. If they fail then the city in which they are living will turn into ashes very soon. Of course Kate and Curran don’t want all of this to happen so they decide to take part in one more deadly adventure before they retire into a relaxed and peaceful life.
Ilona Andrews starts the story as a romantic tale but things change very soon like Blood Heir and Magic Bites. The love between the couple can be felt through Renee Raudman’s voice which the narrator has given to the novel. Links to the past are there but the story mostly remains in the present. Action and suspense take over the romantic world and it keeps on till the ending scenes.
