King Grim i.e the mighty warrior has two big issues that he has to deal with and the problem is that he has no solution for either of them. The first one is related to his personal life, the man has no wife because during a war he got injured after which he is not fit for the females. Secondly his world lacks females now after the deadly infection that killed almost all the females of the empire. The Emperor who is also the blood brother of Grim wants his men to search the entire galaxy to find perfect females for mating.
The research party finds a ship with a lot of females present on it. The world of those females was destroyed and they were looking for refuge. The emperor sent Grim to the spot so that he can find more such females present in outer space. Grim was chosen by the emperor because the emperor knew that Grim could never form a bond with any of those females. Among those women there was one named Lisa Miller who is a widow with two daughters.
The woman was worried about the safety of her daughters in such a situation and when she met Grim she thought that he was the kind of man she was looking for. Grim also assured her that he will take care of his daughters only if she pretends to be his mate. With this single step author M.K. Eidem changes the whole course of the story within no time.
Like Her Commanders and Wray, the story shifts side and the hero gets into the game. At the same time it becomes difficult for him to save the three ladies whom he has offered a safe shelter. Commodore James and Laura Jennings have narrated the male and female characters separately and it surely has made a difference in the presentation of the story.
