Totally stunning to see how J.R. Ward has been able to produce a romantic situation between the war zones in every novel. Terrible fights and wars between the humans and vampires take place in novels such as Dark Lover and A Warm Heart in Winter but the love still does not get crushed. Vampires and humans form a love bond which is most of the time unbelievable for the imagination.
In previous novels there were love relations between doctors and vampires and in this chapter it is a vampire and a scientist whose paths are joined by fate. Murhder was once among the top ranked fighters and a deadly vampire of his clan. Then he failed in saving the life of a girl whom he loved and that failure has tortured his mind so much that he cannot think properly now.
He has left his Brothers and has formed a path of his own i.e a path full of vengeance. Later in the novel Jim Frangione narrates the story of Dr. Sarah Watkins whose beloved fiancé is lost and she does not know the reason. Together Sarah and Murhder look for the common enemy that has destroyed their lives.
During this joint venture they get the opportunity to come close and perhaps closer than they initially expected. Another enemy of the vampire world is born in this part of the series and the Brothers are in greater danger as they have to face an attack from two different sides. Murhder is expected to tackle the problem in time because if he fails the trouble will surly go out of control.
