When Sarah bought a historic house she was told that the house was linked to the disappearance of many of its residents. Also, it was told clearly to her that the housekeeper of the building used to do black magic at the same place. Sarah thought that all of it was a matter of the past and it will not stop her from renovating the house according to modern standards but she was wrong in her assumption.
During the renovation, Sarah and the workers found bones of human beings hidden in the walls of the huge building. Sarah gets terrified and she contacts Caleb Anderson at once because she thinks that the matter is out of the hands of the police now.
Caleb also gets stunned when he gets the hint that several of the bones were linked to the cases which were quite recent. This means that the killer was still operating quite near them and there is a chance that they could become the next victim. Heather Graham does not add too many clues in the story as it was in The Forgotten. Rather the author has added a ghost of the past in this story that can tell all about the injustice that has taken place in the building.
The evergreen voice of Emily Durante has taken it above Dark Rites and just waits for the twist at the climax. Finally, the fans will realize the true colors of Graham at this level. The impression that the ancient building will have on the listeners is something that will be permanent. No memory will be able to erase the picture of the ancient building from the mind.
