The writer of the series Robyn Carr and narrator Therese Plummer have almost the same kind of taste in stories. It is the Virgin River that the author talks about more than any place else in the world. We as regular listeners have also heard about the place so much that we know all about it. For this reason, the author does not give a lot of information about the scenery because it was there in the starting parts of the series.
The fans who have the entire picture of the landscape saved in their head would be able to enjoy this new installment of the series in a better way. Redwood Bend and Sunrise Point are separate stories so even if you are a fan you still have to listen to one story at a time and the rest can be given time later on.
Brie and Mike are the two who came to the place in search of peace, the previous life of both of these characters has not been awesome. Brie was almost killed by an enemy in the past and she was lucky that she was able to survive that deadly blow. In order to leave that terrible thing aside, she came to the Virgin River. Now she is living a fine life but she still has those fears in her mind which haunt her during the night.
Mike used to be in the LAPD before becoming the sheriff of this town and he too came to the place to get settled in his personal and professional life. After two divorces, the man is also looking for a woman who can remain with him forever. Brie is that kind of woman but the problem is that she is unable to get out of those fears and it is up to Mike to show her a way out of that old mess.
