This is the second chapter of the series and the number of narrators is still the same. Alexander Strain, Dawn Ursula, Bradley Smith Joe Mallon, and Frank Britton are some of the names that one will find in this chapter. This means that there are a lot of voices that will enter your ears but it is not an issue because the voices are clear and there is no place where those voices have overlapped.
Kenton was shown as a person with a bit of a rash attitude in the previous part of the series and here he has been given more responsibilities which he has to fulfill at any rate. He has lost many of his friends which has made him sad on the inside and also there are more dangers to come for those who can manipulate sand.
These Sand Masters have been using magic to control sand for centuries and this rare art has been saving them for such a long time. Now the enemies are coming with more power and it is up to Kenton to save his people from extinction. There are assassins who are coming for Kenton too and he cannot trust anyone except Khriss who has an agenda of her own to fulfill.
Brandon Sanderson didn’t go low in Shadows of Self and The Original the same thing is seen in this second part of the series. The author has maintained an awesome style in this series and it is seen in all of its parts. The hero emerges eventually in all of these parts but the sufferings of this leader are also epic which makes him a true leader of his people.
