In the Woods Audiobook
It is quite usual for the parents to call their children home when dusk approaches the village. Usually, there are wild animals that can come after the children if the village is near the forest. The year is 1984 and we witness the same kind of town in which the children are asked to keep themselves away from the woods as much as they can.
Three children don’t return back one evening and the police are called to the spot at once. Their parents get really terrified because the children were seen near the woods by the villagers. The police launch an investigation and nothing is found. Then after a while, one of the missing children is found and his name was Rob Ryan. The boy was tightly gripping a tree and he was in a bad state.
When he was brought to the village, he wasn’t able to tell anything about what has happened to him and the rest of the two children. The police closed the case because the investigation resulted in nothing. Years later we are told by the author Tana French that Rob Ryan has become a detective and he works for the police department in cases that seem to be difficult to tackle.
The same kind of case appears on the scene once again when a twelve year old girl gets killed by something dark. Ryan and Cassie take the case and the story becomes serious like The Secret Place. Rob knows that he must look into his past too if he wants to solve this case and he must not let the evil spread its wings this time. It’s Steven Crossley who is with the narrator in this installment and it is no less than Faithful Place in standard.
