Jake Gyllenhaall i.e the narrator of the novel made a lot of preparations before starting the narration of this novel. There is something unique in this novel that is usually not observed in the stories of the modern era. F. Scott Fitzgerald has made everything look so real that we cannot leave the book unpraised. There are hints that the novel is linked to the personal life of the author somehow.
This has been the reason that this novel was sold like hotcakes right after its publication. Gatsby does not appear at the start of the story rather it is Nick who starts narrating the story in the first person after he rents a house near Gatsby’s house. Gatsby was a multimillionaire whose house was always welcoming more and more guests. Nick used to go to those parties as well and there he got the chance to meet the great man himself.
Nick was actually a relative of Daisy but he didn’t know that she was somehow connected to Gatsby long ago. When Nick went closer to Gatsby, he realized that the man was still in love with Daisy from the inside and he wanted to have her even after all those years.
The love story still had charm in it and it was astounding to notice that a person like Gatsby was lacking the most important thing in his life i.e love. Love takes over during the climax of Tender Is the Night and here too it is the magic of love that smoothers everything. Love is more important for all of us than material wealth and without it, we will always feel lonely.
